Homework

Yamato tried to sneak out the door. Maybe if she got away fast enough, she would not have to do her homework.
"Yamato, get back here, you haven’t done your pre-calculus homework!" It was Kosaburou. He was always making sure Yamato had all her homework done, much to her dismay.
Grumbling, she went back to the dining room table, which also served as the homework table. Kosaburou was already there when she sat down.
"Now," he began, "This shouldn’t take very long, assuming you actually work on it."
"Kosa, why do you care so much about my homework? Don’t you have homework of your own?" She already knew the answer to both questions, but was trying desperately to avoid the inevitable.
"Yeah," He replied, "but I finished it already. Besides, I want you to get a good grade in this class. I know you can do it, it just takes a little effort."
"More like a lot," she mumbled.
"Now," he said, ignoring her comment, "According to your assignment sheet, you only have to do fifteen problems. It shouldn’t be that bad."
"You’re a slave driver, you know that," Yamato said, before finally starting on her math problems.
Despite the fact Kosaburou had just finished his own pre-calculus homework from another teacher, he was still able to give Yamato all the help she needed on her own homework. She was thankful for that, even though she still hated the assignments.
"A compact disk spins at a rate of two hundred to five hundred revolutions per minute. What are the equivalent rates measured in radians per second?" Kosaburou was reading a problem Yamato was having trouble with, and at the same time was solving the problem in his mind. "Okay," he said, getting some spare paper and a pencil, "What’s one circle in terms of radians?"
She thought for a moment before replying, "Two pi, right?"
"Right. Now, what the problem is asking for is how many two pi’s there are in two hundred to five hundred revolutions, or rather, circles." He drew a circle, and wrote 2p x 200 –500 next to it. "The other part is converting all that from radians per minute to radians per second." He wrote down some more equations, and showed the paper to Yamato. "You get it now?"
She studied the paper before saying, "Yeah, I get it. I hate trigonometry." She continued on with her assignment, every once in a while asking Kosaburou for help.
"There, that didn’t take too long," he said, once she had finished. "So, where were you going when you tried to sneak out?"
"Nowhere in particular, just trying to escape from my pre-calculus. I knew you would make me do it once you found it, so I tried to disappear."
He smiled at the remark, happy that she was indeed doing all of her assignments. "You should know by now that it doesn’t work. I always make you do your homework eventually."
"Don’t I know it," she muttered.
"Come on, let’s go for a walk. I’m sick of this dump," he said, indicating their run-down apartment.
The two got up and left, leaving the finished homework
sitting on the kitchen table.
