Or, watch me ramble about something no one cares about and half the fandom denies. Huzzah!

So, I was taking a break from writing (I really want to finish Poison as soon as possible) to dig up my Best Tamers 5 CD in hopes of getting the creativity flowing, and when I was paying attention to the lyrics, I noticed that quite a few of them could be a nod to the games. Especially useful because so many people automatically dismiss the games and say that they don't matter and that Ryo in the games is NOT the same Ryo as in Digimon Tamers or Digimon Adventure. Chances are they'd still scoff at this, but still, it's interesting...
Possibly
a nod to the games in Ryo's solo:
A world with way too many rules to testing yourself
Every moment I spent there, I was alone
The only friend we know of for Ryo was Ken as far as the games were concerned,
and he never really got to be around the other DigiAdv kids long enough to form
anything deeper than an association. And in Digimon Tamers you'd never think
he'd consider himself alone, but in the games he was starting to get really good
at constructing a mask to hide his problems.
It doesn't matter if I'm just another piece of data
Might be an acknowledgement to Anode Tamer, where at first Ryo just thought of
the Digital World as a game, and later started to get used to the place.
And I really should have caught on to the Millenniumon factor in Cyberdramon
earlier (like, before reading that Japanese site that covered Brave Tamer just
before I went and bought the game). There were just so many indicators pointing
to it. For example, Cyberdramon's solo:
Cutting through the air
When I release my blades
I feel myself set free
Okay, this is only here because I use it as an explanation for Millenniumon's...
er... destructive episodes in Nature
of the Game and eventually Millennium Prayer .
What I am seeking for is near
It's never really said what strong enemy Cyberdramon is after, but
in Digimon Tamers he and Ryo were going to the land of the Holy Beasts (I seem
to remember them wanting to see Baihumon, who was fighting the D-Reaper). It's
said in the episode that he's after the D-Reaper, but it was too strong.
But I cannot be "raised"
Millenniumon is much too proud to be "raised" by anyone, even if said
person was his "koibito." Does make you wonder when he growls at the other kids
and then kneels beside Ryo in ep 29, though.
Boiling anger
The madness lurking inside me
Cries out with my whole body
"Slice! Destroy!" it says
Can get Dead or Dead
The only ones who can decide the future
Are the strong ones, those who win and advance.
Okay, that whole thing just reeks of Millenniumon's attitude, from the madness
(that apparently speaks to Cyberdramon within himself) to the arrogance (the
only ones who can decide the future). This is a huge departure from nice, always
curious Monodramon.
And finally, Fighting Soul:
There's no turning back, it's my life... and it feels like someone called
out to me
That someone might just be the call of the Digital World to Ryo, but there's
nothing to support that. Might be something else.
In order to become stronger than I am now, I must break my old self
I will never remain satisfied, I must keep climbing higher
Very suggestive of the games, where Ryo had undergone a huge personality
shift between Anode Tamer and Brave Tamer.
I'll always be serious, it's my life... forget defense, I'm gonna get my
attacks in
Millenniumon always focused purely on attack in the games, which was probably
the deciding factor in his defeats.
Across time immeasurable
In a world immeasurable
The future is immeasurable, but
I don't want to make any excuses, so
I'll always be a FIGHTING SOUL
I don't know about anyone else, but that thing about "time/world/future immeasurable" sounds
a lot like Brave Tamer, with its focus on crossing time and the future/past.
