From around mid-2003 to early 2005, I wasted a lot of time playing a MMORPG (Massive Multiuser Online Role-Playing Game) called Ragnarok Online. I started on iRO Chaos, then shuffled over to iRO Sakray to become one of the first monks on iRO. Then a friend of mine invited me to a private server (which has recently fallen to cease-and-desist letters). After a while, I fled to that server to escape iRO drama. Chances of me going back to any form of RO is extremely slim. So, here were some of my characters.

International RO

For the longest time, Chaos was my home server. Osamu began life there as a thief-to-be-dagger-assassin. He was harassed by idiots who assumed that the "Osamu" name was a typoed version of "Osama", died often, and various big bad monsters wanted his blood. So, here's a list of screenshots illustrating his unfortunate career.
      - Random jokes about dying.
      - And more jokes. (To be fair, that's in the middle of a town raid.)
      - Though, sometimes he led a suicide squad.
      - Here he is recovering from being raped by a naked monster girl of dubious legal age. This happens a lot. The idiots never give him a break.
      - One of the highlights of assassinhood, though, was having one of the first bongun pets on Chaos.
Because he doesn't fight well without a party backing him up (and I was trying to help an acolyte friend level), I had to remake him as a wizard. Unfortunately, I seem to have lost my wizard screenshots, so you'll just have to deal with that sprite in the corner for a mental image.

And then there's Sakray, the test server. Over there I created Liao, whose name is simply the Chinese version of Ryo. He was an acolyte training up to be a tank monk. Yes, tank monk. When I made him, no one had ever heard of such a build. It was all about Asura Strike and Combo monks. Asura monks were able to do insane amounts of damage, but were crippled for some time after using Asura Strike (stats being mostly on Int); Combo monks relied on the combo skill tree and speed, thus their stats were in Strength and Agility. My baby? I wanted him to take advantage of the skill that raised defense to an insane level, so his stats were in Vitality. Liao could survive the Apocalypse without a scratch. Here are some happy fun Sakray screenshots.
      - When Turtle Island first came to Sakray, Liao was among the first explorers. He got surprisingly far before being slain by mutant ninja turtles.
      - He spent a lot of time regenerating in Payon. Unfortunately, Payon had something of a bot problem. After talking with some of the locals, Liao went and broke some dead branches to summon monsters to attack the bots. The little dragon was pure luck.
      - Molestable acohood couldn't last. Considering who Liao is named after, this was pure serendipity. But, alas, he wasn't allowed to change over without one last molestation. Finally, monkhood! Being a battleaco was not fun.
      - Monkhood came with really awesome skills. Here's Root, which allowed the monk to hold a monster still.
      - While I don't have a solo screenshot of Mental Strength, here he is tanking (acting as target while other party members hit the monster from afar) major boss monsters with it. Eddga, Golden Bug, Maya, Osiris.
      - Fittingly, one particular monster hated Liao a lot. Her name is Moonlight Flower, and she has a battalion of rabid nine-tailed foxes at her beck and call. She has since been nicknamed... take a wild guess.

Private RO

After a while, a friend of mine invited me, my girlfriend, and several close friends to a private server. Much fun and love was had by all until the c&d came. By the end, my most-used character was level 93.

I hadn't really planned to play as much as I did. I joined because my girlfriend could no longer play iRO, so I followed her. Since she had a thief-to-be-assassin, I made a healer acolyte for her. So, Qiushan Liao was made.
      - Healer acohood was much more fun than battle acohood. Here he is in a Dark Lord hunt. Normally Dark Lord is Instant Death, but the priestess's Sanctuary made a lovely buffer. Hoorj. A long, torrid affair with Dark Lord was born. And sometimes he held gay weddings.
      - The road to priesthood was full of chasing after a sexy assassin, succubus rape, and tentacle rape. Always with the rape.
      - Somewhere along the lines, my girlfriend got me a baphomet junior as a pet. Given that the bapho jr. was the most difficult monster to catch and feed at the time, it was natural that he was given the name Mille. The funny thing? Mille doesn't mind so much if Liao gets banged around a bit so long as the damage isn't severe, but the moment damage goes into the triple digits, he chases after the monster with a vengeance. Ever see a little goat demon take on a massive Lord of Death with its wee crescent scythe? Fun times! Mille actually helped slay a boss monster for daring to hurt Ryo Liao!
      - Sadly, sometimes the server glitches and Mille gets distracted by the sheer weirdness of a regular high-level monster having novice minions.
      - One of the really fun things about a pRO is that the GMs like to talk. And often embarrass other players.
      - Guild dungeons are really, really painful.
      - Glast Heim is home. Here's Liao and the girlfriend, with matching hats and pets.
      - ... Actually, Liao and Meimi spent a hell of a lot of time together. Here they are at Jawai, skirtchasing Jirtas (the leather queen with the whip there), hanging out in Niflheim (a lot), and being slain by various and sundry giant monsters. Also, it's fun to freak out Atai with the flirting. At one point he even got a red scarf.
      - The few times Liao had to solo, it's in Glast Heim Prison. Again with the rape. Though, when spawn rates are low, sometimes it's just fun to spank Injustice.

pRO!Osamu didn't get as much attention, unfortunately. He did get a full set of specialized katar-assassin gear and managed to make it to level 80-something, though. Here he is with a headgear I couldn't get in iRO, taunting a monster with ridiculously high agi, and abusing his skillset.

EuphRO

Okay, so I lied about leaving RO forever. After a few months, I was introduced to another server. It sucked, but my friends were there, so it was okay. And then it blew up from glorious intarnetz drama. Apparently the founder was using the money for personal things like drugs.

Liao was actually my least played character this time around, because I had no one to support and healbombing got boring. But apparently pets talked on this server, and Mille was, well, demanding. Very, very demanding. He also apparently thought RyoLiao's blood tasted like honey.

Given the people I partied with, Osamu got a lot more work as a wizard.
      - When he did join a party, it was usually with necrophiliac perverts (I kid) and there was lots of tentacle rape.
      - When he solo'd, it was in Stings. So much tentacle rape (and a few hydra and peno cards) earned him the title "Tentacle Bait" :(.
      - But all things must pass. After much fun nuking giant mobs in Biolabs, the news broke out and rumor spread saying that Euphorian was using the donation money for drugs. First was the denial, then Euphorian decided to shut down for good and gave us a few minutes to screencap stats, get together for group pictures, and kill each other as fast as possible. See you next server, guys :(.
