Digimon Tamers 35: My name is Dukemon! Becoming the true Ultimate Evolution
This episode
has very little to actually do with Ryo. In fact, he has all of
a few seconds screen time here. However, I'll review it anyway
because it is a kickass ep.
Takato's
rage at the death of Leomon by Beelzebumon's hand (literally!)
causes Guilmon to evolve to Megiddramon and his D-ark to shatter.
Despite Juri's cries, Megiddramon attacks Beelzebumon. Holy crap,
his spittle is acidic. Ew. Nice animalistic growling effect though.
The grounds around the group splits, separating them. In a neat
show of heroics, Jenrya leaps across an ever-grown chasm to comfort
Shuichon. Aww.
Exposition at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office building,
a.k.a. Yamaki's Place, about the damage Megiddramon is causing.
Considering the origins of Megiddramon's name (from Megiddo, the
stage for the Apocalypse in the Bible and major battleground in
biblical times), none of this surprises me in the least.
Somewhere else in the Digital World, Ryo and Cyberdramon finally show up
after a several-episode hiatus. A data stream hits close by, drawing
Ryo's attention.
Meanwhile, Megiddramon continues trying to eat Beelzebumon. Makuramon
the monkeyboy flies in on an orb of light, makes an ass of himself
to Beelzebumon, and suffers the same fate as dragonboy in ep 29.
In much the same way, too. Beelzebumon then absorbs his data.
Rapidmon and Kyuubimon (Taomon after the evolution) leap in to
attack Beelzebumon, who is now more powerful. They fail as beelzebumon
traps them in bubbles. A quick-thinking Jenrya suggests they use
a certain card, and the two digimon devolve and fall away from
the bubbles.
Beelzebumon's
attempt at downloading Rapidmon and Taomon's data ends up a horrible
fluke since the bubbles didn't quite drain them before they escaped.
This results in a rather freaky accident. However, he suppresses
the mistakes and attacks Megiddramon, once again despite Juri's
pleas.
Megiddramon's
chest plate is shattered, he's pummeled to the ground and Juri
cries. Meanwhile, in Shinjuku, Yamaki and friends note that the
danger has passed.
Back in the Digital World, the kids try to gather themselves and mull
over what just happened. Takato walks up to the fallen Megiddramon
and tries to talk to him. However, Beelzebumon's still around,
still a danger and still wants a fight. He goes to attack the
fallen Megiddramon, walking slowly with guns drawn.
There's a fairly badly done slow-motion scene as the bullets slowly
leave Beelzebumon's guns, and for some reason a flashback to when
Takato created Guilmon. This leads to a fairly surreal bonding
scene. Words can't possibly describe it and my screenshots are
absolutely horrible. Then they flash back to reality, Guilmon
devolves and slaps away the bullets, and they jogress to Dukemon.
Beelzebumon and Dukemon then rush in to duke it out (shoot me
now), and the episode ends. Nice cliff-hanger.
