Digimon Tamers 42: D-Reaper Attacks The City, The Tamers' Decision

Who you gonna call? GHOSTBUSTERS! So, the D-Reaper's in town, and I'm getting flashbacks to the old Ghostbuster movie. You know, the one where the city gets covered in pink goo. Takato and the others are less than thrilled, and the adults are stumped about how to deal with the quantum jell-o.

Gotta love 'em tabloids On the train back, Takato realizes that he'll have to hide Guilmon when he scares off another commuter and decides to throw his jacket on Guilmon. Unfortunately, this does not hide the giant tail.

Mr. Akiyama: *stoic* At the airport in what is probably Fukuoka, a crowd of reporters attempt to ply Ryo with a barrage of questions. This is not taken well by Mr. Akiyama, who tells them that Ryo is tired, so will they please bugger off leave them alone? They then drive off and Mr. Akiyama isn't all that thrilled to have Monodramon around. Monodramon just makes things worse by tinkering in curiosity with everything with a button, knob, or dial and ends up turning the radio to a report on the D-Reaper.

Impmon returns to his home, now abandoned due to the evacuation, and finds a letter addressed to him. Unfortunately, no one ever taught him to read. At the Katou's, Juri's little brother chases Kurumon and ends up tripping over his own feet. After the mother comes to calm him down, evil!Juri shoves him over and goes on about destiny. Again.

Ruki: Hey mom? Parents who try to be cool usually aren't...Jen has something very important and earth-shattering to tell his mom. Really. Takato decides to go on his own. Ruki does the same after a talk with her mother, who now chooses to let Ruki make her own decisions. And gives her a new shirt. Meanwhile, the military gathers around the goo and attempts to plot a course of action. If a giant Statue of Liberty animated by pink goo prances through Shinjuku Gyoen, I'm running. At the Li place (which really belongs to the family sensei, but I digress), Lopmon suffers through Shaochung's efforts to teach him modern Japanese and Jianliang talks with his sensei. The sensei lectures about how all things (like the Devas and why they did what they did) are subjective. He later talks to his mother about how only he and the other Tamers have a chance to defeat the D-Reaper. Eventually his mother breaks down crying, leaving Jianliang the opportunity to take off. Which he does, but not before a respectful bow.

Just like old times! Except with new mutant jell-o While a military cameraman gets dragged into the bushes by something pulling on the cable, Takato finds himself at a familiar tunnel entrance. He's soon joined by Ruki and Jianliang, and it's almost like old times. Renamon suggests the need of a battleplan. Ruki notices Takato blushing and asks about it, doesn't get a good answer, and blushes too. When this is going on, Jen's eyes keep darting between them as he tries to figure out wtf is going on.

'We're screwed, aren't we?' The military men eventually find what's been abducting their camera: the D-Reaper agents, specifically ADR-02 "Searcher." Soon enough the three primary Tamers come aboveground to see the sky light up with explosions. The battle is on.
