Cid and Mid Previa
Cid created many inventions which has aided human progress for years, and his greatest creation is the fire-powered engine which supported Karnac's economy. However, once he realizes that his inventions may have weakened the crystals, he tried to destroy those machines, only to stand by and watch in horror as the Fire Crystal exploded. He then retreated into a state of depression. Mid is Cid's grandson, always at his grandpa's side to aid him and observe his work. Mid's father was a scholar who spent more time in his lab among his work than with his wife, and Mid's mother left them in disgust. Three years before the game begins, Mid's father died in a laboratory explosion, leaving the boy alone with Cid.
